Have you recently developed painful sores inside your mouth? The sores inside the mouth are called mouth ulcers.
Mouth ulcers can be very distressing to bear with. They are aching sores or lesions that appear either on your tongue, inside of your cheeks, lips or tend to emerge on the floor of the mouth. They are excruciatingly painful to deal with and cause agonizing sensations while eating or brushing your teeth.
Mouth ulcers are also referred to as canker sores and occur either as a single sore or develop as clusters. These are red dots found in the inside of the mouth that have a white-yellowish head, which can be very painful.
Did you know that mouth sores are an indication that your body is undergoing imbalances such as constipation, acidity, nutritional deficiencies or hormonal imbalances? Mouths ulcers also appear due to a host of possible causes such as body heat, heavy smoking, stress or bad dental hygiene.
These painful sores don’t require any medical attention since these subside within a week or two. Smoking and drinking in excess can cause ulcers. If your toothpaste contains the ingredient sodium lauryl suphate, then there is a chance of you getting mouth ulcers.
They usually appear in white or red patches in the mouth. In Ayurveda, it is believed that too much of heat in the body manifests as mouth sores. It persists due to overheat or vitamin B12 deficiency. As the mouth is our first point of contact, we need to take care of our teeth, tongue and gums.
And if your mouth is inflamed, it is a sign that you are allergic to certain foods or sometimes the irritation can occur due to chemical sensitivities. Usually food allergies tend to be the reason for the eruption of mouth ulcers.
When there are cracks along the centre of the tongue, it is an indication that your body needs B-complex vitamins. If you have a scalloped tongue and constantly suffer from bleeding gums, it is a sign that you need to take folic acid, vitamin C and bioflavonoids.
When there are deficiencies in vitamins B1, B2, B6 and B12 and folic acid, then there is the possibility of you suffering from recurrent canker sores.
Consuming high sugar and highly acidic foods like citrus fruits, tomatoes and pineapples can be problematic as you would be frequently getting canker sores.
